The Walt Disney Family Museum‘s latest original exhibition, Make Believe: The World of Glen Keane, showcases the Disney animator and Oscar Award-winning artist’s career and work from The Fox and the Hound (1981) to Tangled (2010). Keane is the artist behind many hugely popular characters, including Tarzan, Ariel, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, and the Beast. Make Believe is on view from today through Sept. 3, 2018.
Keane curated this exhibition himself, in partnership with the museum’s Director of Collections and Exhibitions. Featuring sketches, hand-drawn animation, and maquettes from throughout his career, Make Believe offers an intimate look at many of Keane’s iconic characters, from beloved films such as The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992), Pocahontas (1995), and Tarzan (1999).
Visitors can also get a rare glimpse into Keane’s recent 2017 collaboration with Kobe Bryant and legendary composer John Williams on Dear Basketball, which just won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short.
