You’ve probably seen the Embarcadero’s iconic 1915 fire station. The City’s fireboats are housed there, and it has a picturesque location with the Bay Bridge towering above.
Station 35 as it is called isn’t going anywhere, but plans are in place for a significant upgrade just behind it. According to a 7×7.com report, last month SF Public Works released its design plans for a 16,300-square-foot floating extension which would bob up and down with the waves.
The new state of the art structure would also house one new rescue watercraft; a third fireboat to join the other two currently in use at Station 35. Construction is slated to begin in 2019, with completion scheduled for 2021. For more information and details, click here.
