2017 Barbary Coast Roller Marathon

Hope you had a great 4th! Just three days now before our next weekend. Nice, right? The 4th of July is a hard act to follow, but this caught our attention. On Sunday you can roller skate out at the beach for 26 miles or so.

The Barbary Coast Roller Marathon is a 26.2 mile skate race along San Francisco’s Ocean Beach. There is also a 13.1 mile half marathon with the event. With the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, skaters will race along the four (4) mile road course on the Great Highway.

Organizers say there is a little something for everyone. It’s great racing for hard core racers. It’s a high mark of accomplishment for fitness skater or pro. And it’s an absolute blast, they say, for the recreational skater. You can wear 4 wheel blades, 5 wheel blades, or keep it old school with “quad” conventional roller skates.
