In the first game of the first round of the playoffs, the Golden State Warriors beat a very hot Portland Trail Blazers at home Sunday afternoon. Coming into the game, Portland had one of the best records in the league since the all-star break. Their starting guards, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, together formed the NBA’s highest scoring back court during the regular season. And for three quarters yesterday, they were on fire – combining for 48 points the first half alone.
How do you stop them? Having Draymond Green on your team helps. The defensive player of the year candidate had 19 points, 12 boards, nine assists, three steals and five blocks. He was simply amazing.
After a close back and forth game for three quarters, the Warriors pulled away in the fourth to win the game 121-109. The team is now fifteen wins away from capturing the NBA championship. There’s a long way to go, but the Warriors are off to a great start! The next game in the series is Wednesday night, with a 7:30PM start time in Oakland.
