The 50th Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival opens in Japantown this Saturday and Sunday. The festival takes place over two consecutive weekends, April 8 – 9 and April 15 – 16. This is California’s most prominent celebration of Asian traditions and the biggest on the West coast. Each year, over 200,000 people attend.
The festival will take place within the borders of Laguna and Fillmore Streets, and Geary and Bush Streets. There will be food booths, cultural performances, martial arts, live bands, the annual Queen Program, and more. The Grand Parade will be held on Sunday, April 16, beginning at 1pm starting from City Hall and concluding in Japantown.
