Lots of fun this weekend with the 2017 Bay Area Brew Festival taking place on Saturday at Pier 35, the San Francisco International Chocolate Salon also on Saturday at the Hotel Kabuki, and the season’s first Presidio Picnic on Sunday – featuring diverse ethnic and American cuisines from celebrated local chefs, along with lawn games, yoga classes, and nature-based arts and crafts for kids.
On the “Homes for Sale in San Francisco” front, here’s our report for this week, 3/12/17 – 3/18/17
Headlines across the nation point to a very strong spring selling season. A recent survey by Fannie Mae reported home buyer confidence is at an all-time high.
Jonathan Smoke, chief economist at the National Association of Realtors, wrote on Monday, “Job creation so far this year is 30% stronger than in the same period last year. Unemployment is close to a low of more than nine years. Wages and income are also starting to pick up to growth levels we haven’t seen since 2009.”
Frank Martell, president and CEO of CoreLogic, agrees. He said the spring home-buying season is shaping up to be one of the strongest in recent memory.
Clearly the rest of the nation is finally participating in the recovery that we have felt in the Bay Area for years. While the San Francisco real estate market is challenged by a low inventory of homes for sale, the desire for home ownership remains strong here – just as it now does across the country.
