The SF Indie Film Festival is underway now, presenting tons of movies and a number of parties through February 16. There’s also the 34th Annual Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon and 5K in Golden Gate Park on Sunday.
On the “Homes for Sale in San Francisco” front, here’s our report for this week, 1/29/17 – 2/4/17
According to the Mercury News, a new report from Realtor.com® was just released, and it ranks the San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward metro area as the hottest market in the country. Other reports use different metrics, and may rank markets differently.
To determine its rankings, Realtor.com® identifies where homes are selling most quickly, and which markets are generating the most views on their website. San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara ranked number two, and then, at other end of the affordability spectrum, Vallejo, Sacramento, Yuba City, Stockton, and Fresno were all included in the top ten.
Jonathan Smoke, Realtor.com’s chief economist, said that the index masks one important trend. While Northern California markets have continued to dominate the index, they are in some ways not nearly as hot as they once were. They are simultaneously “hot” and “cooling,” he said, because the rate of price appreciation has decreased across the Bay Area.
