This weekend is a big one and what some call the “unofficial beginning of Summer” as Memorial Day Weekend rolls in! Many San Franciscans will be in a party mood due to their 3 day weekend, and what better way to celebrate than heading to Carnaval!
Carnaval will take place this Saturday and Sunday May 28 & 29, taking over Harrison St. between 16th and 24th for a two day block party sure to spill over throughout the Mission District. Expect to see colors, glitter and feathers galore as you step into a slice of Rio de Janeiro in the heart of the City. This will be a family friendly event with a selection of stages with live music, global cuisine and international dance scattered throughout.
Don’t miss the main event on Sunday, the Grand Parade which will begin at 9:30am at the corner of 24th and Bryant. Expect to see over 50 groups of colorful music and dance groups dazzling the 400,000 spectators watching.
If you’re in San Francisco this weekend, make sure to check out this fun, high energy event, it’s not to be missed!
