The Best Day Trips from San Francisco

4 - REV Hodgepodge Thursday roadtrip

While we all love this wonderful City that we live in, sometimes it’s nice to get a change of scenery and venture out of SF for the day (but not too far!). Today we have compiled a list of what we consider to be the perfect day excursions from the City.

1. Pacifica and Half Moon Bay (30-40 mins drive)

If you’re brave enough to brace the cold water in this beach town, get your surf on at Linda Mar Beach.  Love to hike? You will love San Pedro Valley Park. If time allows, take a trip down the scenic Highway 1 towards Half Moon Bay and stop by the Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. to try out some local delicacies.

2. Point Reyes (1 hour 30 mins drive)

Point Reyes boasts a pretty coastal drive within a convenient distance from San Francisco. Check out the infamous Point Reyes Lighthouse and if your lucky, spot the elephant seals relaxing on the sandy beaches below.

3. Santa Cruz (1 hour 30 mins drive)

Santa Cruz is predominantly famous for its beachside boardwalk. If you’re feeling adventurous head north of the city to Mount Hermon where you can zip line though the trees and mountains. Complete your day with a drive around the scenic West Cliff Drive.

4. Sonoma County (2 hour drive)

If wine is your beverage of choice, you’ll love Sonoma.  Check out the Dry Creek Vineyard for a vast selection of wines.

5. Monterey Peninsula (2 hour 30 mins drive)

Check out the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Carmel is a stunning beach city along the Peninsula with some wonderful eateries which you should explore as you drive along the glistening 17 mile portion of the peninsula.
