This very special exhibition opened last weekend, and it runs through May 15. Don’t delay – see it sooner rather than later, because you may want to see it a second time.
Pierre Bonnard: Painting Arcadia is the first major international presentation of Pierre Bonnard’s work to be mounted on the West Coast in half a century. The exhibition features more than 70 pieces, spanning his entire career.
The artist was born in France in1867, and died in 1947. He was one of the defining figures of modernism in the transitional period between Impressionism and abstraction. In his work you can see the stylistic influences of his time, witness the experimentation, and feel the locals and settings he celebrates.
