Weekend Happenings and Your Real Estate Market Update

Friday-BannerThis weekend is pretty packed with events, like the grand opening of Super Bowl City, and the return of the Bay Lights.

Also happening this weekend is the 2016 Chinese New Year Flower Fair, taking place all day Saturday and Sunday in China Town. If you’re in China Town on Saturday, you’ll also catch the Chinese New Year Mini-Parade happening around 10:30am.

On the “Homes for Sale in San Francisco” front, here’s our report for this week, 1/24/15 – 1/30/15:

According to a report published by RISMedia, across the nation homes grow more rapidly in value if they are closer to a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods grocery store.

It’s not just about potential convenience. There’s a perception that these stores are located in the type of neighborhoods homebuyers find appealing. According to the report, these stores tend to be found in neighborhoods that exude walkability, community, and a new urbanism.

This dynamic may or may not hold true for San Francisco because so many of our neighborhoods already posses these characteristics, whether or not a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods is nearby. Still, it’s interesting to see that this homebuyer preference has taken root across the country.
