Portals of the Past: Willard Worden Photography

Thursday-Blog-BannerThe de Young Museum is featuring a new art gallery called Portals of the Past, showcasing photographs of San Francisco 100 years ago. Photographer Willard Worden (American, 1868–1946), a well known Bay Area photographer in his day, took up photography while serving in the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars and later opened his first gallery near the Presidio in Cow Hollow.

Worden was at the height of his career at the time of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition (PPIE), the 1915 World’s Fair held in San Francisco. His exhibit, Portals of the Past, can be viewed in the de Young Museum until February of next year. For more information, click here.
