After more than a week between games, the NBA Finals finally start tonight as the Golden State Warriors take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in a best of seven series.
LeBron is a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player Award winner and he has been in five consecutive NBA Finals. Our MVP, Stephen Curry, will be making his first NBA Finals appearance.
Yet, in a curious twist, LeBron was a Stephen Curry fan from way back, when Curry was dragging his tiny college team into an NCAA playoff tournament. LeBron actually went to two of Curry’s games, just to see him play, and had a feeling this kid would be special. In a wonderful column, Mercury News sports writer Tim Kawakami reports on this early encounter and LeBron’s premonition. It just makes everything that much more intriguing.
Let’s get this started!
